Description It\'s the mechanical forefather to Ford\'s heralded pony car and a fine looking compact vintage cruiser in its own right. This 1965 Ford Falcon Futura is looking sharp and running smooth while proudly displaying its original colors both inside and out. It\'s a well-restored homage to a great era of classic cars and it has a strong visual appeal that can\'t help but bring a smile to your face.
The Wimbledon white paint this Falcon wears was a very popular color choice back in the mid-\'60s and, having received some freshening up over the years, continues to provide it with a great, understated look. The red stripes running the lengths of its sides while encircled in chrome trim appear just as vibrant as they did from their start. The paint presents well, with even coloring and no major issues in sight to serve as distractions as you take a lap around the car. While doing so, you\'ll likely notice that the brightwork and badging on all four sides appears to have recently been added, so it\'s all looking its best, as are the bumpers both in front and back. The body lines are strong as well on this classic Ford - tight, consistent gaps surround the doors, hood and deck lid and the panels blend well with one another. The glass surrounding the cabin is all in fine shape and, unlike so many cars this age, the manual windows roll all the way up and down with minimal effort.
Judging from the lightly travelled appearance of the interior, there hasn\'t been too much traffic in and out of the doors. The front and rear bench seats have been reupholstered in factory configuration and their black, vinyl surfaces are nice and fresh, as are the door panels on the sides and the expanse of black carpeting lining the floor. As was the case with many cars of this era, the amount of interior room belies the Falcon\'s fairly modest size, so there\'s a surprising amount of legroom on hand for your backseat passengers. A nice looking woodgrain steering wheel has been added to the mix, while just in front of it, the dash area has been livened up with new paint and carries an assortment of clear, easily readable gauges in its cluster. Pop the trunk and you\'ll see it\'s nice and clean inside, with its floor lined with proper Ford plaid fabric, and a full size spare standing by.
Everything seems well-detailed and tidy under the hood, with a 289 cubic inch V8 sitting at the center, surrounded by white inner fenders and firewall. The contrast between the engine, hoses and wires with the sea of white surrounding them is an effective one that allows every detail to really stand out, and the badged chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers the small block wears provide some additional eye candy. The Ford 289 has long been revered for its durability - well over a half century after the first of them debuted, they\'re still out on the road powering classics. Not surprising, this one is in fine form, starting promptly, running smoothly and sending a nice, understated rumble out of its dual exhausts. Below, the undercarriage appears solid and shows no signs of abuse over the years. This dapper vintage Ford rides on a set of very nice looking 14\" Cragar wheels that are wrapped with Americus tires.
