NOTE 4/7/18 7:30pm: There seems to be a lot of confusion about the color of this car - Satin Nickel is in the silver family, but a bit darker than Silver (On XLRs Cadillac called the silver cars \"Light Platinum\"). It\'s not, however, as dark as say, Charcoal Gray. Pewter would be a reasonably good description. It is NOT champagne, or brown, or tan, or taupe, or gold. If you look at the fourth photo (the one of the left front fender and the hood) the portion in the sunlight will give you an accurate idea of the color of the car. It is stunning in person. It\'s actually similar to the color of this text. Well, at least on my monitor anyway. Sorry for the confusion. The fact that this car is still for sale makes no sense - you absolutely will not find a finer example, and I\'m several thousand dollars below every XLR with similar miles currently for sale anywhere on the internet. Please believe me - if you are truly in the market for an exceptional XLR and you miss this car, you will have made a mistake. I spent months searching before finding XLR perfection. Okay. Let\'s get to it. Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings.
Do yourself and favor and take the two or three minutes it will take to read this. If you are looking for the \"right\" XLR, it will be worth it. I promise.
Let me begin by making a bold statement - this is probably the nicest previously owned \"all original\" XLR for sale anywhere. Period. I\'m a lifelong \"car guy\", and a particularly fussy one at that. This car is as close to perfect as you could ever hope to find. I\'m honestly not sure it\'s ever even been driven in the rain. The paint color is \"Satin Nickel\" and the interior is Ebony (black) leather. Cadillac only produced one hundred sixty-three (163) 2004 XLRs in this combination - the majority of the Satin Nickel units (the other 467) had the \"Shale\" (oyster) colored interior. It is actually the rarest of all the color combinations. I\'m not a fan of the light interiors in these cars (the seats in them don\'t wear well at all - they all seem to look \"tired\") so I was ecstatic that this car just happened to have the Ebony leather. But I digress...
I have absolutely loved XLR\'s since they were first introduced. Over the years I\'ve had the good fortune to get to own a couple of NSXs and Vipers along with miscellaneous MBZs and after nearly 15 years of watching the XLR market, they finally became reasonably affordable - I decided I had to have one. After an exhaustive nationwide search for the \"right\" XLR that lasted nearly 4 months (I didn\'t want red, black, or blue, and I was not willing to consider the Shale interior so I knew it wasn\'t going to be an easy task from the onset), I bought this car from it\'s original owner here in Florida in early November of 2017 (about 5 months ago) - it belonged to a slightly built 73 year old woman who had owned it as her \"sunny Sunday car\" since it was new. It\'s never seen anything remotely resembling a winter, and it shows. I\'ve got all of the original owners manuals and documention, along with every service record including the original purchase contract, the original window sticker, and all the other corresponding paperwork. Her husband of 50 years had passed away in the early fall of last year and she had decided she was going to trade it and her Cadillac SRX in on a new Cadillac - through a series of fortuitous events I had the good fortune to hear about the car before she took it to the Cadillac dealer.
I bought it that very afternoon.
I took the car home and went over it from end to end - it needed a set of \"hood shocks\" (which I promptly replaced). That\'s it. Everything on the car had been maintained to perfection. Because I\'m a car guy I had to do something, so I bought a set of custom Lloyd\'s embroidered floor mats (I wanted to preserve the originals which are in near perfect condition). And a new OEM #1 Key Fob just for fun (I have both originals - #1 and #2). Her Cadillac dealer had even replaced both headlights under warranty with the newer upgraded version (if you know XLRs then you know that the original headlights were an issue) so the headlights are and look literally brand new. The car runs and drives magnificently, the top works perfectly, all the rubber seals on the car are in perfect condition, and the interior is the nicest I\'ve ever seen in an XLR - the drivers seat is in excellent condition, the passenger seat looks like no one has ever sat in it, there is not a mark on the dash or the console, and the carpet is perfect. The condition of the paint is so nice it\'s eerie (see photos - look closely - there\'s not a mark on the car - it literally looks like a new car). The complete lack of stone chips on the front end tells me the car was probably rarely if ever on the interstate. I ran a Carfax report when I bought it and as you might expect, it\'s spotless (I\'d be happy to forward a copy or you can run one yourself). I\'m always completely forthcoming with information when I list my toys on ebay - in fact I\'m known for the accuracy of my descriptions (and their length lol) - in this case the only thing I can think of to mention is that it will probably need a set of tires in the next 5k miles or so. Which brings me to why I\'ve decided to sell it. I spent weeks researching aftermarket wheels and tires and as I was about to pull the trigger on a set of 20\" Savini DiForza Black Series wheels and a fresh set of tires to the tune of about $3000, I came to the awkward realization...
...I don\'t actually go anywhere anymore.
Seriously. We live in a massive retirement community here in Central Florida (The Villages) and at this stage of our lives everything we do is within a couple of miles of our home. I use the Jeep for runs to Sam\'s Club and the pool and what not (not things the XLR is well suited for anyway) and I won\'t drive the XLR if it looks like it might rain - it\'s my \"baby\". Unless I specifically take it \"out for a drive\", it sits in the garage. To drive that point home (no pun intended) I\'ve only put 268 miles on it in the last 5 months - and that\'s with me making it a point to take it \"out for a drive\" on nice afternoons and weekends. Another problem I failed to appropriately consider in my excitement to finally own an XLR is that we only have a two car garage these days. The XLR and our two Harleys are in the garage and now my Jeep and her F150 are in the driveway - my love for these cars combined with my impetuous nature has created a pretty serious space problem, not to mention mama is not particularly happy about all this. I realized that if I spent another $3500 on the car (aside from the wheels and tires I was also going to have the windows tinted), that wouldn\'t change the fact that my life has changed in a way that I never anticipated - I don\'t drive anywhere. So, after struggling with the decision for several weeks, I\'ve decided it makes more sense to find this spectacular car a more appropriate home than to spend thousands of additional dollars on a car I\'ve sadly come to the realization I\'ll rarely drive. If I had more room that would be ok, but I don\'t. It sucks being me right now.
Anyhow, and in closing...
I flat out guarantee you that the first one to see this car in person will buy it. It\'s every bit as nice as I\'ve described it, and as I\'ve only put a couple of hundred miles on it, for all intents and purposes it\'s a 32k mile, pristine, one owner XLR with all the \"books and records\" in the rarest and perhaps the most desirable color combination of all. Doesn\'t get any better than that. I don\'t want this to be a long and painful process, so I\'ve priced it aggressively for a quick sale. If you look at the rest of the XLRs here on Ebay as well as on CarGurus or AutoTrader you\'ll find that nice examples with similar miles typically bring upwards of $27k - there are several on here right now for $29k+. If you\'re \"serious\" about owning an XLR - not just any XLR, but a truly exceptional one that you can buy at the \"right\" price, look no further - you have found your car.
My name is Bill - feel free to email or call me with any questions you may have - I\'d be happy to answer them. I live in the Eastern Time Zone and I can be reached at 352.209.4100 - all I ask is that you don\'t call me at crazy hours. You are, of course welcome to come see the car in person if you live within a reasonable driving distance. It is truly spectacular in person.
I have the clear Florida title in hand, in my name, so it will be a simple transaction.
Check my feedback as a Seller - I\'m one of the good guys.
Best of luck, and God Bless.
