It’stime to sell my1970PlymouthHemiCuda. These carsare some of the most desirable collector cars in the Muscle carworld. Chrysler only built 652 examples of the“AllNew”designedforPlymouth The1970Barracuda!Only 368 were built with the heavy-duty 727 automatic transmission. Thiscar is 1 of 2 knowntoexistwithBlackpaintandRed interior withautomatic trans making it very rare. Along with that, this is a original, surviving, unrestored example. No body metal has been replaced onthis car; no quarter panels, wheel tubs, trunkfloor,trunkextensions, fenders or anything else bodyrelated has been replaced. This car has never been wrecked orrusted. Take a look a the pics of the underside it is dry.
Theman responsible for this car being built is Wayne Kirby. He worked asthe head mechanic at Webb Chrysler Plymouth in Kennewick, WA.Whenhesaw the new 1970 Barracuda he went right to the owner and sat downand ordered this car. He optedfor the8 3/4 rear which was lighter than the Dana and easy gear changingforstreet use or racing. He also went with black wheels as he knew hewas going to install American Racingwheels.Afterreceiving the car, he put headersonandswappedthe3.23gearsto4.88. With around 4000 miles, theHemi losses number 3connecting rodsoheorderedafactory warranty replacement short block.Thereforthecar does not have the numbers matching block.
Later,onhebrokethe auto transso it is not theoriginal trans. Car does have a lot of the original paint still onit. After acquiring the car, I putcorrectdatedoriginalexhaustmanifolds and NOS exhaust to the tips. The 4.88 gearswereremovedand ring andpinion. Ireceivedthe carwith thewrong black wheels is a nice, drivable originalHemiCuda.Doesnotoverheat in thesummer.Somejustwent across the Mecum auction block for $300,000+USDandnosale. Not many surviving, true 70HemiCuda\'sareavailable.Sodon’t let thisonegetaway.Whenyou buy a restoredcaryoudonotknowwhatyou are buying.
