Greetings-
Here\'s your chance to own a very nice, unmolested \'57 Belair convertible without breaking the bank. I found this car through a mutual friend of the owner who is a very nice elderly lady. Her husband had passed away years before and she had been storing this car in her garage under cover since 1997. Just recently she decided to buy a smaller house and sell the three remaining classic cars that she still owned. That\'s how I acquired this car. I guess you could call the \'57 a \"garage find\". We towed the car to my shop and took note of everything that would need attention after 21 years of sitting in the same garage. We had a lot of fun investigating the car. For instance, the bias ply tires looked brand new but we knew that they wern\'t. We checked the DOT date on them and found they were manufactured in 1977 so we figured that after the tires were installed in 1977 the car was barely driven after that. The odometer shows 22k and change but I\'m gunna have to assume its rolled over once even though the brake and accelerator pedals show very little wear. Who really knows after 61 years!
This car is \"TURN KEY\" so to speak. Here\'s a list of things that have been done to the car to get it ready for you. Complete brake overhaul.New master cylinder, new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes and wheel hardware. New belts, hoses, fuel pump, fuel tank removed and flushed. New fuel pickup and float. New Interstate battery. Fresh oil change and rear differential oil changed as well as transmission serviced. Cooling system flushed. Radiator pressure checked. New carpet and seats freshly upholstered to match original color. All lights, signals, horn, heater/defroster, speedometer and clock work. The radio doesn\'t work, however the car will come with a new Chevy retro style am/fm in a box. The car also has brand new Coker classic 14/7.50 wide whitewall tires. The top is in very nice condition and goes up and down as it should with a push or pull of a knob. The plastic back window is \"as new\" condition with no yellowing, however the zipper needs to be replaced as it is missing 2 or 3 teeth.
I believe the chrome and trim to be original. The chrome sparkles and shines as if it were only a couple of years old. I believe the car has had one repaint probably in the late 70\'s and is still very presentable!
I have owned dozens of Chevys with 283\'s and 327\'s in them. This is the best running 283 that I have ever owned! I believe it to be a fresh rebuild when it was stored. There is ZERO blow by and she starts instantly with the turn of the key! She runs and shifts as new and goes down the road straight and true without any vibrations or issues. I drove her on the freeway yesterday and she cruised nicely at 70. The original cast iron powerglide shifts crisp which really surprised me. If I had to guess, I would say the transmission was overhauled before the car was stored. There are no engine, transmission or rear end leaks, however the power steering has a tiny one or two drop leak after sitting for a couple of days.
This car is a California car and during 6 weeks of getting the car ready for sale we found no rust damage.I get thumbs up and compliments everywhere I go. I would classify this car as an original survivor that could be a daily driver/weekend cruiser as well as being a viable contender in local show and shines!
Please look at the pictures carefully! The car is 61 years old and is not perfect but it is pretty darn nice! Feel free to text me directly with any questions and I will respond very quickly. 530-515-5585.
Good luck bidding! Jeff

Windshield has been replaced but all other glass appears to be original and in very nice condition. Windows and wing windows roll down and open with ease.
