1938 Packard Super 8 – 5 passenger coupe

The 1938 Packards just like the 1937 Packards continued to sell like hotcakes. The Super Eights in this year used 134” wheel base; the new Packard hydraulic brakes and independent front suspension was a great selling point.

The 1938 Packard Super Eight 5 passenger coupe has always been considered a highly attractive model and was as close as the Super Eight series got to a 2-door coupe. The important thing to note here is that at Packard’s meets and shows you can very often see just about every other Packard body style but the 2-door sedans are extremely rare.

The car that you see in this eBay ad is out of a long-time collection that was restored some time back and has been taken wonderful care of to preserve the car. It is an older restoration that shows very well.It has always performing exactly as it should. It starts, stops and drives down the road at highway speeds. With its new hydraulic braking system and the independent front suspension it even outperforms the Packards of earlier eras which were already known to be wonderful handling and driving cars.

Also, the 1938 Packard Model 2 door sedan had the new style pontoon type front fenders which are very attractive in side mount form. The 5-passenger coupe in 1938 was Body #1137 which sold for $4,185.00.

The 1938 Packard Super Eight 5 passenger 2-door sedan in the eBay ad is equipped with trip lights, dual side mounts, metal tire covers and side mount mirrors made specially for the metal tire covers. It also has the deluxe wheel trim rings, the correct size white walls and is one of the lowest production Super Eight models for Packard in 1938.The odometer reads 74409 and is believed to be correct mileage but no documentation. The car also is equipped with the correct Cormorant hood ornament and an absolutely lovely interior with plenty of Art Deco on the inside including the ashtray and the dash panel. You would be hard pressed to find a better looking dashboard as you can see from the interior picture. The car is also fitted with a heater and also a tidy engine compartment.

This car starts, stops and runs as it should and certainly will please the new owner to no end.For your convenience, the car is fitted with an after market directional signal located on the steering column.

We can only suggest that you check out the pictures and you will know why it is highly unlikely that when you attend a major classic car show that you would see another Packard of this model. The reserve on this Packard is very fair (please don’t ask) and the new owner will be duly impressed.Owning a Packard is always a matter of pride of ownership.
