Pontiac Ventura - Hot Rod Red - Quick Blast Down the Road
We took the my friend's Ventura out for a ride the other day. We'll have to do a
better quality vid in the future, but I'll post this one for now. The powerful
sound coming out of that thing just overpowered my camera's mic and you really
don't get a good sense of the speed involved. I'll get my mic rigged up
correctly and get a video from outside the car one of these days.

1969 Pontiac Ventura Being Restored
Take note, GM. 40 years from now, will people be taking the time and energy to
restore CTS's, Lucernes and FWD Impalas to their original conditions? Doubtful.
Here's a jewel from your glorious past, being restored by Chicago mechanic Dave
Armstrong. This '69 Ventura (a trim package on the Catalina in the 1960's) spent
almost all of its life in Palm Springs. That brown coating you see on the rear
undercarriage and differential isn't rust -- it's sand. When it's power-washed,
it'll look as clean as the underside from the differential forward. It's great
to see the front end without the fenders, showing off that 428 V8, disc brakes
and front suspension in all their glory. As you can see, that's the original
Harrison air conditioning unit. Black Morrokide upholstery and Pontiac 5-spoke
mag wheels will complete the picture. It'll be another showpiece, just like his
green Firebird 400. Dave's also got a red Firebird Ram Air convertible. But
that's another video;)

1972 Pontiac Ventura 1/4 mile in car drag race
1972 Pontiac Ventura II Goes 14.00@97mph. It's bested 13.9 before but I didnt
get that run on video. Stock RECON Rebuilt 350 Pontiac Block & Heads form 2001.
Heads are casted 6X. Mods are: Pete Jackson Gears, Edelbrock Intake, 600 CFM
Holley Double Pumper (Mechanical secondaries), Holley Electric Fuel Pump, Hooker
Headers, Magnaflow True-X Stainless Steel Dual Exhaust, 4.10 Gears with Posi,
TH2004R with shift kit, Crane Cam 216/216 .454/.454 110LSA, Drag Radials and a
slight dyno tune. Full Weight. I'm shifting manually on the Column to prevent
short shifting. I shift from 1st to 2nd @ 5000rpm & finish the 1/4 mile run in
3rd @ 5500 rpm instead of popping in 4th gear. I tried shifting all gears at
5500 rpms, but it makes no difference for the ET or MPH. Putting in 4th slows it
down by .15 I'm going to install 3.91's to see if it betters the ET. 4.10's may
have been an overkill.
