GM had two gasket and oil panstyles during the 55-79 era. The tunnel in the front of the oil pans changed around 1974 to the large tunnel version. The front seal was slightly thicker to fill this larger area. The thin front seal oil pans were used from around 55-73, and have a slightly smaller tunnel,but your engine may have been changed to the large or smallertunnel oil pan. Be sure of the style you have.This auction is for the thin front seal oil pan gasket. If your engine has the original oil pan on it, and pre-dates 1974, then this is the correct gasket, orif you have purchased an aftermarket oil pan, it may use thethinfront seal gasket such as the one in thisauction.

You will never see a race engine not using this setup. This gasket is not only reusable, but will reduce the possibility of oil leaks to a great extent,andoil sweating, keepingthe engineclean.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
One more thing, our machine shop does use a sealant in the corners where the timing cover meets the pan, as well as around the bolt threads, and holes. Be sure to use a type that is compatible this gasket. I always like to stay with what I know has worked well for others, rather than what the seller claims. We use a semi clear type, and it bonds extremely well, and remains very pliable.
