This is the First & Easiest Dual Control no dash removal blend door repair that lets you keep your heater’s dual controls.
The Blen Dor Store has designed & engineered a way to keep your heater’s dual control system without removing the dashboard or the HVAC box.
Like the Blen Dor Single Control (ndr) kit and the Blen Dor Recirculation Door (ndr) kit, all the work is done thru the glove box opening.
The Blen Dor Dual Control (ndr) kit will replace the plastic drive connector piece and the plastic blend doors with solid air craft quality aluminum parts.
The first piece is the driver side blend door axle shaft. It is a ½” solid piece of aluminum rod with 1/16” aluminum sheet stock tig welded onto the door axle shaft and a 1/4” vinyl foam rubber (High adhesion strength adhesive with a very good temperature range) covering applied to both sides of the door panel to make a one piece door assembly.
The second piece is the passenger side blend door axle shaft. It is a ½” solid piece of aluminum rod with 1/16” aluminum sheet stock welded onto the door axle shaft and a 1/4” vinyl foam rubber (High adhesion strength adhesive with a very good temperature range) covering applied to both sides of the door panel to make a one piece door assembly.
The third piece is the drive connector it is a ½” solid piece of aluminum rod with steel roll pins. The drive connector is machined to fit the actuator motor and to fit onto the end of the driver side blend door axle shaft assembly.

Take off the driver’s side actuator motor.
Cut the access hole in the heater box.
Only three parts to install.
Put the passenger side blend door in place.
Put the driver side blend door in place.
Push the drive connector piece into the shaft of the driver side blend door.
Close the heater box and install the actuator motor.
Recalibrate the system.

No fumbling around inside the heater box trying to assemble multiple parts that you can’t see.

The work is done thru the glove box opening and should take around an hour for a beginner to complete.
The tools you will need are a phillips screwdriver, regular flat screwdriver, pliers, a RotoZip, Dremel, or other rotary type tool for cutting into the plastic heater housing.
As the heater box is a soft type of plastic, you could also use an Exacto knife with a saw blade or any number of saws or knives if you don’t have a rotary tool.
A standard drill with a right angle handle will need an extension to keep the drill outside of the heater box.
We will supply the blend door assembly, detailed instructions with plenty of pictures to help with the installation, and other items to complete the repair, including a multipurpose bit to cut open the plastic heater box.

The first thing to do is check for a blend door failure
The most common symptom of a blend door failure is:
The passenger side has lost heat, than the driver’s side loses heat (If not the driver’s side will eventually lose heat) and you do not have control of the air conditioning temperatures, it just blows out cold air no matter what the temperature is set at.
That is the common symptom of a blend door failure.
There are two ways to check for a blend door failure if you have the Grand Cherokee with the Automatic Zone Control system (AZC). The first is you can read the fault codes of the AZC system.
To read the AZC fault codes:
21 or 53 – Left temperature door travel to small.
22 or 54 – Left temperature door travel to large.
23 or 55 – Right temperature door travel to small.
24 or 56 – Right temperature door travel to large.
All of the above codes indicate a blend door problem. 54-56 are the most common.
If you have a 15 or 47 – Left temperature door not responding, chances are the driver side actuator motor has failed. That motor can easily be changed.
If you have a 16 or 48 – Right temperature door not responding, than chances are the passenger side actuator motor has failed.
This motor is very hard to replace as it is in back of the heater box and to replace it you have to remove the dashboard.
If an actuator motor does not rotate when you turn on the system, that does not mean the motor has failed.
The control module shuts off an actuator motor if it makes one revolution with no resistance.
If you do not have the “temperature door not responding” code, the actuator motor is more than likely still in good working order.
19 or 51 – AI (Recirc) door travel range too small
20 or 52 – AI (Recirc) door travel range too large
The above codes indicate a recirculation door problem. #52 is the most common.
The 14 & 46 – AI (Recirc) motor was not responding.
That is the recirculation door actuator motor failure.
To replace this motor you need to remove the dashboard.

The second way to check the blend door is manually.
If you have the Grand Cherokee with dual controls checking manually will only check the driver side not the passenger side blend door. You will have to rely on the fault codes for the passenger side.
If you have the single control heating system, you can check the doors manually.
To check the blend door manually:
If an actuator motor does not rotate when you turn on the system, that does not mean the motor has failed.
The control module shuts off an actuator motor if it makes one revolution with no resistance.

I have listed the USPS First Class Mail International shipping in an attempted to provide a lower cost option for International shipping. If you choose to have your package shipped by First Class Mail International there is no insurance option. Also the US Post Office’s approximate time for delivery states that it varies. If the package is lost there is no recourse, the USPS will not check into lost First Class Mail International.
