The Rockwell hardness test showed to be 36. The 4340 alloy used in these rods is far stronger than the common 5140 alloy used in some rods. We have built up engines in the 900hp range, never experiencing a problem. The greatest benefit of the 4340 alloy is to eliminate rod stretch. We also performed an angularity test on these rods and they spec out perfectly.
If your building a 496 or 540in the upper hp range, then this is the rod you should use. They aresomewhat stroker clearanced, but this does not eliminate the possible need to clearance the block as with any of the H-beam rods on the market.
