Mercury Cougar - American Muscle Car
An excellent TV show featuring the classic Mercury Cougar. They cover all the
classic years, and talk about all the different engines and option packages you
could get. Only a couple minor mistakes (they say the that XR-7 package included
a 4-speed stick, then show an automatic shifter in one... derrr) but overall a
very nice overview of these cars.

always wanted a '51 Mercury. One of the most iconic of all custom cars, the Merc
ranks right up there with the '32 Ford 3-window coupe, the T-bucket, and the
shoebox Chevys. Instantly recognizable, this 1951 Mercury packs outstanding
performance with classic looks all wrapped in a gorgeous red shell. If you're
tired of the same old rods showing up at the local cruise night, bring this one
along and watch the crowds form three people deep when you park it. This lead
sled is the perfect cruiser. Big enough to be comfortable, and without a chopped
top, this Merc is perfectly proportioned. The suicide doors are classic and
functional, and the tinted glass really looks sharp. The car is straight and
solid, the paint is beautiful and all of the door and trunk lips and jambs are
clean. The side molding and stainless trim is in awesome shape. The only things
we can find in less than perfect shape are the chrome on the front and rear
bumpers, and hood molding is a bit faded and has some pitting, and there is one
small crack in the glass on the passenger side window. This car has been very
well cared for over the years. Forty years ago, you probably would have found a
warmed-over flathead under the hood, but today you get a strong running small
block Chevy 350. Built to drive, the tune isn't radical and it starts and drives

you been searching for something different? Seen enough Mustangs and Fairlanes
for a while? Consider this cool cat from Ford's upscale cousin, the 1968 Mercury
Cougar XR7. Its look is different, its stance is right and it has more than
enough under the hood! You want old school cool? It doesn't get any better. Of
course what really matters is under the hood. Here's the heart of the beast....
the original Big Block 390 cubic inch motor hooked to the original C6 automatic
transmission. This Cat has power steering and power disc brakes, which make
stopping and turning an absolute cinch. The super solid rust free body and
beautiful dark blue pearl paint are as close to perfection as you can get. The
tinted glass and white vinyl top really add to the stunning looks of this
Cougar. The trim is in nice shape and is most likely original as few
reproduction parts exist for these cars! Clear lenses, a nice grille and chrome
pieces show the care taken during the cars life. Open the door and strap into
the nearly all original XR7 interior. A clean console sits between blue vinyl
bucket seats. There's wall to wall dark blue in here with clean door panels and
an original wood grain dash. Clear gauges, a functional clock, air conditioning
and functional interior lights are just some of the highlights of the interior.
