SELLER REMARKS

A superlative statement that Buick called this 1963 Riviera, ‘A Full Size Personal Luxury Car.’ And this code #4700 “E” body sported a dramatic design that broke away from the Detroit mold and into a new era of styling. The front fenders had leading edges that were actually vertical grills and the rear contour angled to a razor edge. The door windows were frameless, a new design from GM. This is an awesome original 63443 mile car is now For Sale. A still beautiful original code #R Desert Sand over a rare code #798 saddle leather interior looks brand new. If there is any credit given to anyone other than this owner it should be William Mitchell, head of design for GM. He was edgy with a strong personality and that turned heads in design, much the way this example does. No holes barred here. This 1st generation is powered by a 401cid – 325hp - ‘nail head’ V-8 iron block and head, numbers matching engine. It is mated to code #497 super turbine drive automatic transmission. Motor Trend report 0 to 60mph in under 8 seconds, the ¼ mile in 16 seconds and top speed of 115mph. It is a body on frame with a double wishbone front suspension and a live rear axle with trailing arms and track bar over coil springs. The standard equipment looks like most optional lists on most cars but let me name a few. The standard equipment includes Easy power steering, self-adjusting power brakes on all aluminum drums, (fronts being finned), back up lights, 2-speed windshield wipers, map light, automatic trunk light, glove box light, dual sun shades, bucket seats, (front & rear), deep pile carpeting, 6000 mile lubed front suspension, wire wheel covers and much, much more. We know that this was a special ordered car and we also know that it was built in the 3rd week of November 1963, and is probably why this example is loaded with optional equipment. And some includes air conditioning, tilt wheel, power windows, AM/FM radio with electronic antenna, power seats, and a speed alert warning . And with the optional leather interior comes full-length armrests, wood veneer trim on the doors and quarter panels, circular Buick Tri-shield ornaments on the door panels and 2, front seat back latches for the back seat passengers, soft-ray windows, This car still stands tall on the suspension. The engine is detailed nicely but not overly done. The first generation Rivera’s are considered very collectible today. Even back then, Buick limited production to increase demand. Body fit is trim and tight. Look at the driver’s door panel and armrest for a minute. It is as good as the passenger door side. Carpets are like new. The spare tire still has its cover on it. GM considered this car a ‘styling landmark’ in 1963 and the same holds true today. If you want a numbers matching, original mile classic please, consider this beauty. It has prominence, respect and is sure to be a great investment that you will be able to enjoy and drive and will appreciate in value over time.
