this auction is for a 1970 JAVELIN SST 401 AUTOMATIC in excellent condition. this is the most solid 1970 car of any make i have seen. i built this one for myself ONLY 5 -1"x1' SQUARES of metal WERE CUT OUT AND REPAIRED WITH NEW METAL. 2 were bullet holes one in the lh inner fender and one in the trans tunnel. i don't know the story on the bullet holes. there were 2 pin holes in the rh lower rear quarter that were cut out and new metal welded in and one pinhole in the lh lower rear quarter. the car was originally a arizona car that underwent a extensive 3 year restoration. every part of the car was stripped of any rust and refinished with many custom parts. the paint is now 3 years old and has a few chips. there obviously is no bubbling bodywork under the paint. this is not a #'s matching. always kept garaged and never been driven in the rain since restoration.body lines are ruler straight!

very detailed throughout.original power disc bendix brake system works great!originally a 360 car the javelin was fitted with a custom built 500HP+ 401 with a custom ground roller cam. custom pistons. rotating assemble is balanced. full msd ignition. 750 cfm custom holley 4150 carb. runs great on 93 octane pump gas. over $8000 into the engine alone! it runs so good! even mid winter with no choke it fires right up and runs strong. its scary strong. stomp it to the floor at 45mph and she'll go sideways on you really quick which is why i put power steering on it(not shown in the pictures). at car shows people couldn't believe it was a amc 401. everyone thought it was some kind of big block because of the custom cast aluminum valve covers.it has southside machine lift bars and bfg drag radials on the back. all tires are new. 998 auto trans with a low gear set so 1st gear feels like 390 gears even though it has a amc model 20 355 posi. it feels like a jet taking off the line. the entire suspension is powdercoated with polyurethane bushings with all new ball joints, tie rods etc. new rear springs. the undercarriage is clean enough to eat off of but then you would get it dirty.the interior is nice with 140mph w/tach. tach needs a msd tach adapter to work. it has a custom oil pressure gauge and a volt meter in the rally pack position. new overlays. the seats all look pretty nice but i was planning on reupholstering them because they are not perfect. the original carpet that was in it is still being used because it was in mint condition. i just had it shampooed and reinstalled. new headliner. all panels and trim are great with nothing broken. i saved all of the best parts from parting these cars out for this car.the of the chrome exterior trim has all been rechromed including hood trim, headlight door trim, vinyl top trim ends, taillight housings. rear bumper. front bumper is very nice original. grille is mint! taillight lenses are nos. all trim pieces are a high 9 or 10.it needs a few things like a radio(i have a radio plate cut for a modern stereo for the car), and the door pull straps,thats call i can think of.this car is a super nice car the drives great and has more power than you need but thats what makes you smile everytime you drive it!
