Reluctantly selling my 1970 Javelin Mark Donohue car. I am waiting for all the experts out there to voice their knowlege on this car but before you go there remember this...AMC was a washed up company with terrible records and NO vin to performance package relationships except for a rare 50 or so FACTORY prepared cars. This is NOT one of those. IT IS ,however,an un cut, unmolested original car with all the factory DATE codes in the right time frame. The car has been painted a bunch and it's multicolored, but when you look deep into the factory spray areas of the quarters, trunk and cowl, you can see it's original. It has all the goodies of a prepped car, most likely a dealer prep, like the SUPER T-10 tranny with the date coded hurst shifter and factory spacer plate. Factory disc brakes. Date coded posi rear and the Donohue spoiler. There is code correct, overspray INSIDE the spoiler that matches the original color on the cowl, meaning that either somebody found an old spoiler, gave it the rusty bolts and painted the inside, then covered it with grime..OR it was installed at the dealer or factory. This has a 304 engine. No it does not match the engine code on the wall, but for that matter, none of them did. Not even the factory builts. Another engine just to hot rod??? Then explain why ALL the date codes on the heads, block, intake and distributor come out to 1970.What I am selling here is a chance to build a rare and cool car...and you can go park right beside the TONS of fake SS camaros, chevelles and shelby mustangs, just to have them drool over your car! Look at the pics closely. I have photographed the important number for your review. At a Bare minimum you have a complete 4 speed, disc braked, roller cammed muscle car to play with, for a fraction of what it is really worth. The floors are rusty in a few places but not in the rails or rocker areas, like it had wet carpet in it. The car was originally from Texas so it might explain that. The fenders are flimsy but useable. Hood is toast and I have another hood(see the orange one) that will be perfect to overlay onto an original Javelin hood and still have the performance look. That is an original AMX hood but the support frame is rusty. I don't have a grill. The original seats are in the car. Door panels are shot, but there. Wheels are some magnesium alloy but are completely shot a corroded beyond use. I have a set of early mustang wheels that might fit to roll her with but cannot say they will fit for sure with the disc brakes. If they do,then you can have them also. The engine turns over well with a battery and has plenty of compression. I have not started it because it was not getting spark and I ran out of time. It has a roller cam and is very clean in comparison to the rest of the car.Glass is good, trunk is solid and most of the moldings are there including the 4 wheel opening moldings that are worth 400 bucks by themselves.I will not part the car out,but will listen to realistic offers. The car will part out,in less than a week for over 4000,just for the major items so understand that I will not even consider offers less than 3500 for the car. Thanks and good luck!
The car will come with a bill of sale only,as this is how I bought it.
