Nobody's going to buy a ZR1 who doesn't already know what it is. My ZR1 is a very, very nice one. I have done a lot of little (and some big) things to make the car run and look and feel new or better than new. And sound great. Little things. Like the interior plastics always crack where they are screwed in. So I put in all new OEM interior plastics everywhere. The special, polarized windshields on these delaminate. Always. I bought 1 of 25 new windshields made in Germany to the exact specs of the unavailable original at a cost of $2100. When I got the car, it popped out of reverse every now and then. So, I bought a brand new ZF 6 speed, rather than opening the tranny up and finding more problems later. The C4 chassis still had a little flex and occasional creaking of the fiberglass. One of the original Chevy engineers, Gordon Killebrew, designed a pair of rod-like chassis braces that substantially stiffen the chassis. No creaking and improved handling.1990 Corvette ZR1 with 34,000 miles. Close to perfect condition. Paint is an excellent 9-of-10. Interior refurbished with 1994 white seats and doors. Four wheel Mov-it big brakes with stainless steel lines. Corsa exhaust. New throw-out bearing. Marc Haibeck engine chip. Engine professionally repainted. New OEM plugs, wires, and injectors. White powder coated A-Mold wheels with ZR1 splash emblem on center caps. New A-arms, shocks, and bushings. New Michelin Pilot Sport tires. New rubber seals. New carpeting and LLoyds Luxury floor mats. New OEM antenna and motor. New OEM windshield surround. New diecast OEM emblems front and rear. $500 custom car cover handmade in England. Pizza box. Three sets of keys. Framed original sticker. Books, including "Heart of the Beast", plus ZR1 banner, New T-Shirts, baseball cap, and other memorabilia.Car needs nothing. Other than modest Haibeck chip and Corsa exhaust, engine is stock and runs beautifully. Not meant to be a hot rod or faster than other ZR1's. They are fast enough (0-60 in 4 seconds with chip and exhaust) to enjoy and will keep up with even the fastest new cars. Focus was on the suspension and brakes and making car look and feel new. Very, very enjoyable summer driver and freeway cruiser that you can take to shows and Cars and Coffee and people will remember you. Selling to make room for another car. Simply out of garage space or I would keep it. When pricing this, I looked at all the other cars currently for sale and read the ads for 15 ZR1's. Some have fewer miles. None have been refurbished or updated like mine is.Is the ZR-1 collectible? It should be, but pricing over the past 5 years has gone down. There has never been a more sophisticated Corvette motor and the Porsche 959 Bilstein suspension was extremely advanced. The body design is clean and more Pininfarina than Chevrolet. This was a more European Corvette, which may be why Corvette enthusiasts have not taken to it. Certainly, the car is immensely enjoyable and very fast. Note on 12/08: I just went over the other ZR-1's currently on offer here. While mine lacks some "originality" with the modifications I've made, mine is in better overall condition than any of the others. It could be that buyers really don't value the ZR-1's, which would be sad. There is just no comparing a ZR-1 and a regular C4. Not only is the engine simply the best motor Chevrolet ever offered, you need to remember that the ZR-1 suspension by Bilstein is an advanced version of the suspension Bilstein designed for the Porsche 959. Anyway, it increasingly looks like I need to keep this one. Hello garage expansion...Note on 12/15: Well, I've had a few offers that were very close to what I would accept. I think a lot of people want to buy one of these at $15-17,000 and that may be possible. I seriously doubt a ZR-1 for that price would be anywhere near as nice as mine, but, if the seller is desperate enough, you never know. I need $20,000. That way, I get back about half of what I have in it and it feels better. Anyone game at that price?Okay. Fire sale. My new Maserati is here and more snow is expected. If someone wants to offer $18,000 plus something. Maybe a waffle iron, a toaster -- an ex-girlfriend? -- I am open to offers. I have had an offer at $17,000 and just need something a little more.
