Ihave been in the car business for over 45 years and have had a very largenumber of collectable cars and have a knack for knowing which cars are going toincrease in value. I believe that these IROC Z-28’s are one of these cars tobuy, have some fun with and take to car shows and cruise nights. Thisparticular car checks a great number of boxes as far as "collectability" isconcerned. First, it is an IROC Z-28 which means it comes with certain optionsas standard equipment. Second, the engine is the very desirable 305 cubic inchwith TUNED PORT Fuel Injection which makes it a great cruiser. Third, it has the big wheels and tires (16-inch Alloys and tires are245/50/16) with Disc/Drum brakes. All this makes the car handle extremely well.
Anarticle appeared in “Car and Driver” discussing a test of which car, a Corvetteor Camaro, would handle better. And, guess what …..the Camaro WON!! They arefast and they DO handle well. They have front and rear sway bars. The frontsway bar is huge! If you grew up in the 80’s or 90’s, these were the carseveryone wanted. Chevy “go-Fast” parts are cheap and consequently most of thesecars were “Rode Hard and Put-Up Wet” as we say here in Texas. In other words,people drove them like they stole them!! A lot of them did not survive.
Therewere only 3,915 Yellow IROC Z-28 produced in 1986. It is great to remove theT-Tops and drive around and have some fun! They really look good!
Asfar as I know, this IROC – Z has had one re-paint. It was not a $10,000 paintjob, but it was nice. No over spray in engine compartment, etc. It shines andhas a very straight body with nice gaps everywhere.
Itried to take pictures of everything you might want to see on the car such asthe floors which is VERY important. I also have the Car Fax showing noaccidents or speedo roll backs, etc. The Car Fax also verifies it is a true60,000 mile car. Actual proof of the mileage. What a concept!
Theinterior is in excellent condition as you can see. The rubber all around isgreat, including the T-Top Rubber.
Presently, theA/C is the only thing on the car that does not work. It may just need Freon. We are not licensed to do A/C repair.
Ialways encourage people to fly in and look at the car or have it inspected bysomeone. DO NOT BUY THE CAR AND EXPECT TO COME IN TO INSPECT IT AFTER THEAUCTION ENDS!
