Up for auction is a beautiful 1971 Buick Gran Sport Convertible. This car underwent a complete frame off restoration.
The engine is a period correct 455 cu. in. V-8(bored .030 over)with the original Muncie 4 speed transmission. 10 bolt rear differential is also original with all new bearings and seals. Engine has new pistons, rings, lifters, timing set, oil pump and cam bearings. It has 1972 heads with new valves, springs, retainers, seals, rocker arms and shafts. Fuel pump and water pump are also new. Point distributor has been replaced with a small cap HEI style distributor. The car runs great!
Interior was completely replaced. Bench seat, arm rest and colorsare correct per the trim code. All the covers and foam are new. The seat belts, handles, trim pieces and panels were also replaced with new. This car has factory air conditioning and both the hoses and condenser were replaced but it is not working. Heater control is also not working correctly. All the lights and radio work like they should.
Both front and rear bumpers, hood bar and headlight bezels were re-chromed. Suspension is all stock with all components replaced or refurbished during the restoration. Brakes were rebuilt- including a new booster, new master cylinder, hoses/lines, pads, shoes, and wheel cylinders. The car also has power steering.
The convertible top is new along with a new pad kit and seals. Guide pins, one hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic linesand the pump were all replaced. The top works and looks great.
