1970 Plymouth Super Bird Road Runner B5 Blue Original BARN FIND
Wow! Where do I start!

I just purchased a pairof 1970 PlymouthSuper Bird's several weeks ago on August 23, 2018 after they sat for over 35years in dry barn storage. You will see both listed in twoseparateauctions this week oneBay.I would like to sellthem as a pair but I am open to your thoughts. Please be aware you are biddingon the Blue Super Bird this listing only and not the White Super Bird.

PLEASEALLOW THE HUNDRED PLUS PHOTOS TO DOWN LOAD.

While I was attending the auction at the Owls Head Transportation Museumin Maine this August 18th, 2018, I bid on ablue 1970 PlymouthSuper Bird and was the high bidder for $187,000 with the buyers premium. Youcan Google the auction and see the Super Bird I won on August 18, 2018. It's abeauty.
Just afterI won the blue 1970 Super Bird with white bucket seat interior a man approachedme and sat down next to me and stated he has 2 Super Birds in storagethathe has owned for the last 40 years. He told me he purchased them fromthe original owners. He said one was B5 blue with white bucket seats like theone I just purchased at OwlsHead Museumand the other Super Bird was an Alpine White with black bucket seats withconsole auto slap stick.
My heartwas still racing after just winning the auction at Owls Head and now it lookedlike I had the rare opportunity to purchase two more Super Birds that have beenhidden from thepubliceye for over 35 years. He told me he wouldlike to sell both as a pair and that he could show them to me in five days. SoI made an appointment to meet with him in five days to view both birds.
Hestated that both cars were sold brand new in 1970 at Blouin Chrysler Plymouth Dodge in AugustaMaine just 10 miles from his home. He remembered both cars when they were newat Blouin Chrysler PlymouthDodge. He knew both first original owners and when the time was right hepurchased both Birds from each of the original owners, he said around1978.
He keptthem registered until 1985 and 1987 and you can still see the lastregistrations still on both windshields as seen in the photos. He told me he then prepared bothcars for storage and put straight antifreeze in both original motors. He alsofilled the cylinders with Marvel mystery lubricating oil to keep both blocksfresh while in dry storage.

He also stated to me he was a Mopar mechanic andcollector since he was a young boy and always loved Mopar's since he was ateenager.

The day I met with him to see both birds I wasso incredibly excited to see them and still could not believe that these carswere hidden entombed for over 35 years. When I pulled into his yard he openedboth garage doors and there staring me in the face were the two birds withtheir eyes looking straight at me, headlights open. I took photos of both carsas they sat before I even walked into the garage.

Wow!What a survivor barn find!

There was somuch clutter surrounding both cars we had to move everything out just to lookat them. They were covered with decades of barn dirt and dust with rubble allaround them as seen in the photos. It appeared as though hedid a quick clean up on the white Super Bird at some point prior to my purchase but it was still very dirty. The Blue Bird had not been cleaned for decades as photos show.

Heguaranteed me the Blue Super Bird had 27,416 original miles from new, 1970 andthe White Super Bird had 42,497 original miles from new, 1970. He also stated hehad been around and worked on Mopars for a great part of his life andconsidered himself very knowledgeable on them and would also guarantee me bothmotors, transmissions, and rear ends in both cars were day one numbers matchingfactory for their 1969 original build for the 1970 production. He stated againthat both motors were never out of the cars since new 1970. After verifying allbuild dates, fender tags, and VIN numbers on both cars, I looked over all thepaperwork documentation from new with original owners names and dealership infoand purchased both cars that day.

We called aramp truck from his hometown of Augusta Maine and they picked both cars up oneat a time and brought them to my island vacation home 35 miles away in Maineall in the same day. I wanted them home safe.

You can see in the pictures below the Blue Bird being picked up by a ramptruck and seeing outside daylight for the first time in decades.

You can see in the pictures below the white Bird beingpicked up by a ramp truck and seeing outside daylight for the first time inover 3 decades. As I mentioned earlier you can see that at some point he hadcleaned the white car prior to my purchasehowever it was still verydirty. The Blue Super Bird was still covered with dirt and dust.

I followed the ramp truck driver to my home both tripsjust 35 miles from where these two birds sat for 40 years. So their first tripout was just a short haul away to my Mainehome. I can not believe both these cars were entombed just 35 miles frommy Mainehome and that I nevernew about them for the twenty years that I lived there. Found right in my back yard.

WOW!! Amazing survivorstory!!!

Here youcan see these rare Birds out in the sunshine for the first time in decades justafter being delivered to my Mainehome still dirty.

From there, the very next day I had them delivered in anenclosed trailer to my home in Massachusettsjust 3 hours away where you see them in front of my red barn delivered with outa drop of rain.

I put theminto my barn at my home enclosed in dry storage until I could finally start thecleaning process.

The ownerput 440 + 6 decals on the blue car put on decades ago. These decalscaneasilybe removed. Please note this car has the 440 super commando4 barrel motor with super track pac 4 speed,Danarear and not the 6pack option. I have an extra pair of orange 440 valve covers as seen in the photos that will also go with the car. Also check out the old pioneer cassette stereos he put in bothcars. I left the stereos in both cars which are classics in themselves.

Photos below show the Blue Bird before she was cleaned and polished. He also gave me the original steering wheel that will go with the car.

I washedboth Birds, cleaned the interiors, and vacuumed the carpets, cleaned all theglass and polished the bright work. This took me many, many days.

Make sure youview the over 100 pictures I have posted of this Birdafter she wascleaned and polished further below.

Please also note, I have not tried to get both these Super Birds running. I am selling both just as I purchased them in non running condition. Allowing the new owner to work his magic to properly take the right steps to get them up and running again.

The owner guaranteed me that both motors would run with noproblems and were turning freely. Both motors are turning freely at my home and are ready for the next step. I have no time to take them to the next stepof restoration and will have to leave that up to the next owner. This process should be exciting. I photographedboth cars the best I could.

You can seeall the motor block dates and VIN numbers and fender tags, odometer mileage andmore in photos.Theblue Super Bird has the super track pak with pistol grip 4 speed, Dana rearend. It has both original jacks and spare complete and is a very low productionbird with this color and options. The white car is missing the jacks and sparetire, and the original air cleaner. The 1970 Mopar air cleaner on the white car now is verydesirable and looks great, but is not original to the car.. The owner told me he has the original spare tire, air cleaner and jack's for the white car however his ex-wife has them at herhome and due to his divorce he is going to have to wait a while before he canget them for me.

I canonly sell the white Super Bird with no spare tire, jacks and original air cleaner at this time. Ifhe gets these items for me they will go to the next owner, however, I can notpromise I will ever get them from him. I am not sure why he painted both carsin the 70’s. The paint jobs are not show room just very presentable as photos show.

Theinterior is original on both cars. Both vinyl roofs are very high gradeoriginal condition and both dash'sare as nice as you will ever find with nocracks or blemishes. Both trunks are spotless untouched rust free on both carsas seen in the photos and also as nice original as you could ever find. Thefloors and trunks were heavily under coated from day one with thick Ziebartunder coat at the dealership in 1970 on the white Super Bird, and RustyJones on the Blue Super Bird in 1970 and are solid rust free floors and trunk. You can still see the 1970 tag on the door jam of the white car with mileage in 1970 when the Ziebart was applied. When you scrape the under coat off the floors on the under side the metal still looks like new.

Both carswill need the typical maintenance to get them running like any car that has been sitting in drystorage for 35 plus years. Brakes, exhaust, motor service, fluid changes, filters, transmission fluid's, etc. Its amazing the brakes still work fine onboth cars.I used a spare battery I had in both cars and low and beholdall the lights came on as you can see in the pictures. Head lights, sidemarkers, interior lights brake lights etc. Please note both cars will need anew battery.

Thesecars are barn garage survivors 48 years old and not like new and will need thetypical work to make them run and travel the highways again.
Thesecars are a super investment with only 1920 made in total production 1970. Ifyou are a Mopar Super Bird expert you will be able to look at all the VIN#sstamped into both motors as well as the transmissions along with all casting#s, build dates and original fender tags and will agree these birds arethe real deal. He stated the fender tags have never been removed from day oneand are original to the car as you can clearly see in the photos. Also bothcars have all their original glass windows #s matching in beautiful originalcondition with no cracks or lamination problems. Both these Birds are thereal deal and true survivor barn finds. Google the Super Bird history it’struly incredible and too much for me to list.

One of themost collectible muscle cars with one of the most incredible automotiveAerodynamicdesigns in automotive history. Theyspeculate they will be going way up in value at the 50th anniversary auctions.Don't miss this rare once in a life time opportunity as Iam offering bothcars at a very fair price with plenty of meat on the bone for new owner toinvest in getting both cars road worthy again to enjoy and take to the carshows.
