1969 OLDSMOBILE 442 W-30. 4-SPD
This is a very rare car with complete history back to the original owner.
ORIGINAL OWNER PURCHASE HISTORY
This car was ordered new from a dealer in Central City, Nebraska. The original owner chose the W-30 over the Hurst Olds because of its performance reputation and he wanted to special order the paint color. The paint code on the firewall tag has 2 hyphens in place of the paint code which indicate the \"special order\" paint. The build sheet supports this also and lists \"Nugget Gold\" which was not offered on the Cutlass/442. When the original owner was drafted into the Army in 1970 he decided to sell the car and not have to make car payments while in the service.
SECOND OWNER HISTORY (MY BROTHER)
My brother bought the car in early 1970. (I have included a picture of him by the car dated June 70) He used it for his daily driver until 1974 when he purchased a new Cutlass with all the options.
THIRD OWNER HISTORY (BEST FRIEND)
One of my best friends bought the car from my brother in July 1974 and drove it during college at Colorado State University. Good fortune to be in a dry climate!! He was not a \'gear head\" and kept the car completely original and never raced it. In 1980, he also, like my bother , decided to go with something more drivable with all the options. Fortunately he was attached to the car and just kept it in various barns and storage facilities for the next 22 years. In 2002 he called me to give me first chance to buy it back. When I went to Fort Collins, Colorado to get the car it was literally in a barn bearing a lot of it\'s beautiful patina!! It was definitely fun for me to see it and bring back the many memories. (Pictures available as found)
FOURTH OWNER (ME and BACK IN THE FAMILY AGAIN)
I bought the car on February 22, 2002. The best part besides having an opportunity to buy my broher\'s car was that under all the barn dust it was in complete unmolested original condition sporting all of the original trim, glass, interior, sheet metal and all of the mechanical!! I decided at that time to preserve the originality of this relic and not do a complete restoration. 60% of the paint is still the original paint! The motor including the rare \"D\" heads, intake, and Quadra-jet are original. The dual snorkel air cleaner and red fender wells are also original to the car and not reproduction. The M-21 Muncie close ratio 4-speed and Hurst shifter along with the 3:91 posi-traction rear end is also original to this car. The interior required replacement of the seat covers and package tray only, which I purchased from Year One. The seat backs, dash, console, door panels, head rests, headliner, factory 8-track, all the trim and even the carpet is the original and not reproduction! Once again I credit the dry climate of Colorado to the preservation of this car. I drove the car with the original 91,000 mile motor for 2 years. In 2004 I pulled the 400 and put in a fresh 455 to drive to local cruise-ins and shows. I also replaced the original (14 x 6) SS-1 wheels with 15 x 8 and 15 x 7 clones which gave the car a much more contemporary muscle look. I obviously kept the originals. When my brother bought the car in 1970 it had headers with the original 2\" exhaust. These stayed on the car until I replaced the motor. I went back with new ceramic coated Hooker 2\" Super Comp Headers. The 3 1/2 inch collectors go into \"Pypes\" 3\" exhaust with an X pipe. Just recently when I decided to sell the car I had the original 400 professionally rebuilt by Wischmann Performance, one of the best engine builders in the Midwest. Receipts and info available on request. We were very careful to go back to original specs including that factory wild W-30 cam. This motor has less than 100 miles on it. The only non-stock items on this car now are the wheels and exhaust which can easily be changed. This is truly a rare original car with a complete documented history. Nothing has been hidden with fresh paint and re-production parts. Much more information and pictures are available for serious buyers.
I am selling the car as I have recently retired and would like to pursue other hobbies.
Feel free to call for more specific information or pictures. Good luck!

I reserve the right to end auction early as I also have it advertised locally.
