Featuredhere is a great 1967 Pontiac LeMans 2 door hard top. This is aperfect car for someone who wants afun cruiserbut doesn’t want to get involved in a serious restoration. It’s anice looking car that you can buy and drive with some little detail jobs totinker on when you are not hitting the cruise nights or cars and coffee. Shereally runs well and is very reliable and a real head turner. This car has agreat 70’s street terror vibe to it with its lifted stance, meaty tires outback and American Racing mag wheels, it looks Woodward Ave all the way! Thiscar presents verywell and has actuallybeen used in several promotional videos for my employer a well known collectorinsurance company.

The car wasstored off and on for about 15-20 years. Previous owners would get the car outoccasionally and work on it, maybe cruise it around town a little then put it away again. They drove it just enoughto keep good gas in it and keep it running.

The PontiacGTOs have been strong contenders in the muscle car market and as they say“rising waters raise all ships”, the Pontiac LeMans offers a lower costalternative yet with good investment quality.. car isequipped with a Pontiac 400, 400 turbo-hydramatic transmission andposi-traction rear end and along with its “Arrest Me Red” paint job makes it agreat bridge between “The Goat” and an awesome cruiser.

Here are the details:

Finish: The red paint has outstanding lustereven though it is 20 years old. It appears to be an amateur applied singlestage paint. Because the car was stored most of the time there is couplescratches in it; one 5-6 inch scratch in the hood on the passenger side on the the leading edge of the hood. There is alsoascratch, I was told the barn cat assigned to protect the car while it was in storage puton the rear passenger quarter panel while jumping on the car. There are acouple other very minor blemishes here and there in the paint but overall it isa “5-10” footer and as I saidpresents really well. There is no bubbling of the paintanywhere. I would rate it as driver quality-plus.

Body: As you look at the photos you cansee the car is very clean rust wise. The passenger front floor and the trunkfloor have been replaced. The bodywork is very good and there is no rust bubblingwhich is impressive for an older amateur restoration. As the pictures show this is a very solid carand very clean.

Frame: The frame is very clean, with no rustor signs of collision or repair as shown in the photos.

Bumpers: The front bumper isoriginal with some patina but still has nice luster. The rear bumper has beenpainted flat black.

Brightwork/trim: The originalbrightwork is present and in good shape, there is some scratches here in therebut could be restored with buffing but present well as is. I have the lowerrocker trim for the car with mounting brackets. I left it off as I liked theway it looked as pictured, but will be included with the sale

Glass: Side and rear glass is original andin very good condition. I had the rear window re-sealed as it had a small leak.Front windshield is a replacement and has a small repair were a chip wasfilled.

Interior: There has been agreat deal of new parts put into the interior, including new carpet, doorpanels, front and rear arm rests and headliner. Dash pad is free of any cracksor sun damage. The gauge bezel has been re-painted and detailed and featuresstock idiot lights, but have a set of vintage Sun oil pressure and watertemperature gauges mounted under the dash. This a factory bucket seat car withconsole. Shifter was updated to a Hurst His and Hers Factory shifter. The doorand side window weatherstrip have all be replaced.

It looksgreat with original seat vinyl which shows some wear but will work for now butwill need replacing eventually. There are rear seat belts in the car (tuckedunder the rear seat) they are in fair condition and need a good cleaning andthere are no front seat belts. Also missing is the bucket seat backing chrometrim. The speedometer also does not work. I think it needs a new cable. Therewas no radio in the car when I bought it so this is some of the little detailsI’m leaving for the next guy to tinker with.

Heater/A/C: This is a factory A/Ccar but the compressor, engine brackets, hoses and condenser are all missing. That said the heater core doesn’t leak, but the blower motor is not working. This car is a prime candidate for a Vintage Air conversion.

Tires/Wheels: Brand new 15 X 7American Racing Wheels Torque Thrust Mag wheels all the way around. Thereare235/60R/15 Performance Radials up front tires up frontand out back there is 275/50R/15 BF Goodrich Radial TA\'s out pack

Suspension: Stock suspension andsprings, the lift in the ride height has been achieved using rubber springexpanders. I had the front end aligned and a new tie rod installed. It tracksstraight and suspension is good shape with a nice ride.

Exhaust: Nice full dualexhaust system with 2.25” pipes and what appears to be factory style large bodymufflers. The engine is equipped with headers. The exhaustnote is factory sounding with a deep idle note and comfortable tone at speed. It is in good condition with no leaks or rust through.

Rear Differential: The rear endfeatures a Pontiac 10 bolt equipped with 4.11:1 gears posit-traction. Nonoises or leaks, but these are some tall gears making for a top cruising speedof 45-55 mph. Great around town, and the car accelerates like a rocket, but notmuch for long road trips.

Transmission: The 400 THMautomatic is 1973 PX code transmission. Fluid is clear and red. It shifts crispunder normal driving conditions and will squawk the tires when shifted into 2ndgear under power thanks to a B & M shift kit. No apparent leaks visually

Brakes: This car is equipped with four wheeldrum brakes. The shoes appear to have been recently replaced, but I installed anew master cylinder, and wheel cylinders and front hoses. Brake lines are cleanand free of rust and work as designed. Emergency brake is not operational.

Engine: Theengine is very interesting and a clever use of off the shelf parts to build anice street motor. I can’t say if it has been rebuilt or assembled from lowmileage used components. Based on the overall operation, lack of blow by andstrong oil pressure, my guess is it was rebuilt. The block is a 1972 YX code400 CID block. It is topped with a set of 1972 7H1 heads from a 350 V8Firebird. These heads have a larger exhaust valve, 1.66 yet the smaller 1.94intake valves, and a smaller combustion chamber at 86cc’s. Thesmaller valves create a better flow velocity at lower rpms which promotes a betterand more consistent cylinder charge due to the velocity. The smaller combustionchamber also lends to an increase in compression, roughly 9.5:1-9:75:1. Theintake is an Edelbrock Performer and thepre-heat passage has been blocked off and a 17057274 1977 Firebird Trans AmQuadrajet 4BBL sits on top. It breathes through a set of unnamed headers thatfit well with no dents or dings. The motor is responsive, and pulls well. Myguess it has a stock camshaft because it has that characteristic Pontiac rumblethat always reminds me of an old Chris Craft wood hull boat. Assembling thiscombination on the Desktop Dyno netted 300HP with 395 ft lbs of torque. It isfired by a GM HEI ignition. I tuned it up with new wires, cap, rotor and sparkplugs and re-curved the mechanical advance with a performance curve. Thecarburetor was rebuilt and I modified the idle circuits and part throttle togive the engine a crisper throttle response. It also has an electric choke. Ireplaced the air cleaner, PCV valve, new belts, all coolant hoses, replaced thecoolant with fresh antifreeze and a 160 degree thermostat. It also has a newfuel pump and inline fuel filter.

There is no smoke of any kind at start up, orany knocks or ticks cold or when warmed up. It holds a consistent 40 lbs of oilpressure. The engine compartment has a nice used car/car show detail and doesnot disappoint when you pop the hood.

This is areally nice car with all the difficult items of most car projects alreadyaddressed. You have a few items you canaddress to satisfy your tinkering need and make it your own, but the reality iswhen this car is delivered to your door you can drive it now! It is a greatbase for a GTO Clone, or even take it to the next level performance wise and dosome bracket racing. Either way this car turns head and is fun to drive andcruise as is.

Pleaseinspect the pictures and ask questions. I have tried to describe this car iscarefully as possible but understand the vehicle is sold as pictured, as is,with no warranty, implied or otherwise. Feel free to email any questions or call 231-384-7363

It is always a good idea to get an appraisal if you can not inspect yourself consider Auto Appraise is the responsibility of the buyer, I do recommend Reliable Carriers
