We sold this Cobra to local clients back in 2008 and it has been loved and cared for ever since. This Cobra was built with nasty sounding 358CI Windsor V8 with nearly 400HP! All of the service is up to date and has been done by the owner. Recently it had heat shields added to exhaust pipes, new EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads, stainless steel braided brake lines, New Cooper Cobra tires and oil service. This Windsor V8 includes Twisted Wedge 2.02 aluminum head, Holley Carb (750 cfm) on a Weiand aluminum iintake, Ford Motorsport Cam (M-6250A hydraulic flat tappet). Ignition uses an MSD distributor and a Ford ignition box. Transmission is a Tremec 5 speed with wider ratio 5th gear for highway drive-ability, more comfortable cruising and highway fuel economy.
This Superformance is number 253 of roughly 3000 built to date. Superformance is acknowledged as the finest and best engineered Cobra Replica on the market and were licensed by Caroll Shelby. They are hand built in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and much like the original AC Shelby Cobra, they are shipped as a rolling chassis with the engine and transmission installed on arrival. The advantage of this is to circumvent local emissions and safety certification laws and can be licensed and titled as an antique vehicle in IL as well as other places. So this vehicle holds a clear IL title showing it as a 1965 Superformace.
SPF 253 came from the shop of Bob Olthoff Racing in 1998. Bob raced the original AC Cobras in South Africa in the 1960\'s and was closely involved with the development of one of the original Superformance MK III cars. His expertise with these vehicles adds to the provenance of this car as it still has the original engine built and tuned by Bob and his team.
The original build specification included the SC (semi-competition) body configuration, including jet hot coated side pipes, chrome roll bar, chrome fire extinguisher and hood scoop. In addition, from the roadster package, the car includes front and rear chrome bumpers and sun visors for added protection. This car also comes with a newer 3-bow soft top, side curtains, tonneau cover, and car cover. Upgrades have included strengthened upper rear suspension mounts, QAL Shocks, Olthoff designed motor mounts, thicker Olthoff rear sway bar, manual cooling fan switch.
This Stunning Cobra comes with two sets of Keys, Owners Manual, Superformance Wiring Diagrams, and some Service Records.
