BTW: A brief interpretation of the Body Plate: SO 1001 indicates approximate production date of 10-1-63; A7 is a console-shifted HD TorqueFlite automatic transmission; B2 is power brakes, K1 is heater + A/C; M9 is console; Q1 is tinted glass-all windows; S1 is sill molding. BDY 842 is 300K 2DHT; TRM M4X is black vinyl interior; PNT TT indicates roof and lower body color is Roman Red Metallic. No radio from the factory-probably a dealer addition. Seat belts have original hardware but likely added later as the outer belts are not retractable into protective “holster”. Deluxe steering wheel and power steering were standard. Interesting—no undercoating—possibly an original CA car as indicated by the black license plate (1963-69). Minor error on length of the horizontal pinstripes indicate the car has been repainted—but original color. Most of these cars came with 14” wheels and 8.00 x 14 bias-ply tires with 1” narrow WSW. Most would agree that radials provide better ride and handling. If those are 15” wheels, the original wheel covers will not fit. 15” wheels are OK as there are better tire options available. 15” wheel covers from the 1963 300J cars may be available.
