This stunning 1962 TR4 was the recipient of a comprehensive restoration completed around the year 2000. With it’s numbers matching 2138cc four cylinder motor mated to a 4 speed overdrive transmission, it provides plenty of power allowing it to cruise on the highway easily at 70 MPH with the motor running at around 3,200 RPM’s. Painted in the original factory correct Spa white with red interior, it now sports 15” chrome wire wheels with slightly more aggressive Michelin 195/65R15 radials.
Having been meticulously maintained by the previous owner, it is now being offered for sale as a fully sorted “turn-key” ready to drive car. All the instruments look new and work correctly. The steering is tight and responsive, and with factory front disc brakes the car stops very well. The suspension, exhaust and battery are also in good working order as are all the electricals. Recent work includes a newly installed wood dash, New battery, fully rebuilt cylinder head with new valves, guides and seats, brand new SU carbs and a complete oil, coolant and brake fluid change. Compression readings are between 180 and 185psi.
Although over 15 years since the restoration was completed, the paint still looks great with just a few minor blemishes characteristic of normal use. The red vinyl and grey carpet interior is also in very nice condition. Although seldom used, the car’s black vinyl top is in good shape and fits nicely. Also included in the sale is the complete factory tool kit including correct Shelly jack, British Heritage certificate, owners manual, car cover, tonneau, additional floor mats, and a photo album documenting the restoration process. The previous owner installed front seat belts with a later style shoulder strap for improved safety. Other then the slightly wider tires, the luggage rack and the seat belts the car is completely stock. A special note about the unique luggage rack is that this particular style rack is mounted in a way that no holes were drilled into the trunk lid and can be easily removed if you prefer a cleaner look.Current mileage is 11,092 which we believe represents the miles driven since the restoration was completed.
This exceptionally nice TR4 is being sold by Historic Motor Sports with a clear New Hampshire title and Bill of sale.
