**Update: I have had several folks contact me asking to transact outside ofeBay. I will not honor any such requests. This car is the lowest priced of any in the country in this condition, so please don’t haggle with me. The price is the price. If it doesn’t sell in this auction cycle, I have made arrangements for long-term storage. I will not entertain offers after the close of the auction, so if you want it, Buy it Now! Thank you!**
Up for bid is a 1960 Cadillac Series 62 coupe. These cars are becoming very difficult to find and I was lucky to stumble across this one. I pridemyself on having a 100% feedback rating so I will break down the condition as I always do: Good, Bad and a summary.
The Good:She is very complete, right down to the original jack and tools. Very nicely optioned Series 62 boasts cruise control andautotronic eye along with power windows. The numbers-matching 390 fires right up thanks to a fresh tune-up, rebuilt starter and carburetor rebuild. The transmission engages forward and reverse smooth and confidently. The car runs, drives and stops well. I found receipts for 4 brake cylinders back in 2008, so I feelconfident that the brakes have been gone through recently. Exterior lights, turn signals, wipers gauges and warning lights all working. All but one (rear) power window operate up and down without issue. The interior is all there, but could use a freshening up. Based on the very limited driving I’ve done behind the wheel of this one, I don’t see any signs of fluid leaks. On that note, I have taken it up and down the street and a few times and the engine and transmission perform well.
The Bad:The car had some sub-standard body work at some point in its life and it has given out. Based on what I can see, the car will need rear quarter work, floors and rockers. What is nice about these cars that few people know is that 1959 and 1960 full size GM (hardtops only) share doors and floor pans, so you could buy a complete 1960 Impalafloor pan (readily available) and it will fit with slight modification. Same goes for the rockers. The trunk looks surprisingly good, with only a 2” hole behind the driver’s side wheel. The chrome is all there, but the front bumper has some peeling at the ends. The rest could probably be polished and made presentable.
Conclusion:This would be a great project for someone who wants one of these big-finned beauties, butdoesn’t have the $30K+ to spend in one whack. It pains me to sell this one because I’ve been looking for one for so long, but I ended up buying a 59 a couple weeks back and I simply can’t have my cake(this one) and eat it too (the new one).I am happy to host an in-person inspection of this vehicle PRIOR to bidding, and I am available anytime for questions PRIOR to bidding as well.
Terms and Conditions:This car is sold with a bill of sale only, as I bought it from a non-title state. I repeat, you will notreceive a title for this car at the end of this auction. This car is sold as-is, where-is, with no warrantees expressed or implied. This car requires restoration and is not perfect, so calibrate your expectations as such. Bidding on this car is a binding contract between you and me. Do not bother bidding if you have no intention of executing the contract. $500 non-refundable deposit due immediately at auction close. Balance is due in 3 days or less following auction close. Pickup in 14 days or less following auction close or a $100/day storage fee will be charged. While shipping is the sole responsibility of the buyer, I have a great transporter for the northeast US that I can recommend.
