This is a rare and wonderful 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88. Why is it super???? Because it has the rare and awesome J-2 option which is three two barrel carburetors, a tri-power or three duce, intake set up. In addition, this car is more rare as it has a factory air conditioning and believe it or not, it actually works well!
I know very little of the history of this great car. I purchased it in Laguna California while there on vacation. I was told by the dealer that the car was owned by a local gentlemen for a significant period of years. He had died some years prior and after hanging onto the car for a few years, the owners widow was wanting to sell it. The car has had a repaint in colors different that what it was born with at some time in its past. How long ago again I can not say, however, by and large the paint is in good, better than average, condition. The chrome and brightwork is also in very good condition. The interior has also been redone at some point in a correct material and style and professional.
There are no rips or tears in the interior. There are some very small nicks, chips or scratches in the paint in some obsure areas such as a door jamb or where the hood and fender meet.
The car drives fantastic and is actually quite fast for a factory 1957 car. As far as I can assess, the engine and drive train are actual, original and have never been apart. The car has the hydromatic four speed which works well.
Two things on the car are not currently working, the speedometer and the fuel gauge. Both of these quit working shortly after I purchased the car.
It is a great car for an Oldsmobile fan, it needs nothing to enjoy and show.
