MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this 1950 Ford Custom Convertible. This Shoebox Ford is customized with a clean but very attractive style, equipped with spinner caps and red wheels that match the interior, chrome side pipes and dual spotlights, and many other period correct goodies! This example left Ford’s Chester, Pennsylvania assembly plant on September 27, 1950 and it received minor trim updates – a hidden fuel filler door, tighter body tolerances, better factory procedures and the first usage of Ford’s new “Keystone” identification shield.Dressed in its original color, Raven Black, the paint and trim are in overall very good condition. The car’s windows are in very good order, as are the lights. The windows and lights are clear and intact. The car rolls on wide whitewall tires surrounding wheels topped with a set of four-bar Dodge Lancer spinner wheel covers, which look fantastic. The car’s white top has a proper fit when raised while when lowered, it rests beneath a custom-stitched boot cover. This unit has certain period-style accessories that enhance its appearance – functional dual spotlights, original full rocker moldings with front-fender gravel guards, a pair of chrome lake pipes with removable caps, Ford-scripted exhaust tips, back-up lights, door handle and fuel filler scratch guards. This car’s body panels are straight and solid, including the contrasting white collapsible roof. The engine bay is very tidy, with the 239 CID V-8 motor painted red and white. It appears stock at first glance, but look closer and you’ll see it sports a pair of highly desirable, Canadian, Ford-built, heavy-duty “8RT” cylinder heads. These were typically found on commercial vehicles at that time. The engine has chrome coolant-return pipes and a pair of Fenton period-correct exhaust manifolds. The car’s electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts from six and uses an alternator for better reliability. The Flathead is mated to a three-speed manual transmission and a 3.73 rear end.The boot cover for the convertible top nicely matches the car’s white pleated interior. The white seats are in near-excellent condition, with the black carpet in very good order. The interior trim is chrome-plated and the dashboard has been professionally painted bright red, with its original instruments and looks fantastic. Additionally, there is an aftermarket coolant gauge mounted under the instrument panel. The two-spoke, black steering wheel looks great, as do the inner door panels and mirror glass. Rounding out the interior is a factory AM radio. As a final touch of whimsy, the door lock plungers are topped with black 8 billiard balls.Competition to this Ford in 1950 included Buick’s Series 50 Super Convertible, Chevrolet’s Styleline Deluxe Convertible, Hudson’s Pacemaker Deluxe Convertible, the Kurtis Roadster, Mercury’s Convertible and Oldsmobile’s Futuramic 76 Convertible Coupe. When the previous owner acquired this vehicle, its previous owner told him, “This is one car you have a hard time not falling in love with.” Come by today to check it out before someone else does! This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 82,899 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. MotoExotica.comis a licensed bonded dealer through the state of Missouri. We have been in business since 1988 selling high end, special interest, pre-owned and exotic vehicles.

With the advent of the Internet and EBay Motors, we have found an avenue that allows us to sell cars we normally purchasedfor ourselves. We have owned just about every exotic and luxury car known to man;such asISO Grifo to Jaguar XKE, Lamborghini Countach and Rolls Royce.

In the past, these cars were sold primarily through Hemmings Motor News and through word of mouth. We would normally keep a car and enjoy it personally for 6 – 18 months. However, with listing carson EBay Motors, our turnover has tremendously increased. Now, the average time we hold a car is 4 – 6 weeks!

With the increase in turnover has come the increased need of fine automobiles. We are constantly lookingfor exceptional cars and travel the country coast to coast in search of the rare and unusual. We find our cars through individuals like yourselves as well as classic car and dealers auctions. Wedo not purchase vehicles that wewould not be proud to ownourselves.

For a quote on shipping anywhere in the world, please feel free to email us at sales@Motoexotica.com or call 636-600-4600. We will give you an estimated cost for open and enclosed transport or overseas. We are happy to accommodate our international buyers! Over the last several decades we have exported thousands of cars to Norway, Germany, Estonia, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Alaska, Costa Rica, Brazil, British Columbia, Canada and many other locations around the world. Overseas shipments will be placed into a steel container for safe sea passage or optional roll-on/roll-off (RoRo). We take care of all the details and paperwork. All you have to do is collect the car at your nearest port and enjoy! Please note that we are not a transport company and only offer this service as a convenience to our customers.
